Glory Me sets speed mark 2 weeks into Ellis meeting
Glory Me made a big splash in her career debut on Monday at Ellis Park, blitzing six rivals with a powerful far-turn move and drawing off to win by four lengths in 1:16.99 for 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt.
The performance earned the daughter of Gun Runner a preliminary Horse Racing Nation speed figure of 89, which is the highest of the eight 2-year-old races this year at Ellis.

"She came out of the race in very good shape," said David Carroll, the Kentucky-based assistant to Cherie DeVaux, who trains Glory Me for Lael Stable. Carroll said no next race is mapped out for the filly out of the Newfoundland mare Our Khrysty, herself a Grade 3 winner and already the dam of Grade 1 winner Grace Adler and Grade 3 winner Pyrenees.
Lael acquired Glory Me for $975,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September yearling sale, and the female family also includes this year's Florida Derby (G1) winner Tappan Street and Grade 1 winner Bullsbay.
In other 2-year-old action this past weekend at Ellis, Argos received a 85 HRN speed rating for his half-length score over Zeus's Echo in a 5 1/2-furlong turf dash Sunday. Trained by Riley Mott for David Romanik, the Nyquist colt is out of the Acclamation mare Athenian.
A pair of 2-year-old races kicked off the weekend, with the maiden special weight being rained off the grass. Carolyncaroline scored a minor upset over favored Queen Juno, paying on 6.56-1 for her off-the-pace score by 2 1/2 lengths that earned an 84 HRN speed rating. Lindsay Schultz trains the Tiz the Law filly for a partnership of Portilla Racing and Watkins Diamond Stable.
