In her next-to-last work in Southern California before she heads to Kentucky, Zenyatta completed seven furlongs  in 1:27 1/5 Friday morning at Hollywood Park.

Exercising over Cushion Track under jockey Mike Smith, the 6-year-old Street Cry mare, who is undefeated in 19 starts, broke off behind Sarbonne, went her opening three furlongs in 38 4/5, a half-mile in 50 4/5, five furlongs in 1:03 1/5 and six furlongs in 1:15 1/5 en route to the final time, according to Hollywood Park clocker and morning line maker Russ Hudak.

Zenyatta finished her drill with customary work mate El Vino, who went a half mile in 50 seconds.

Zenyatta, who will attempt to defend her title in the Breeders’ Cup Classic Nov. 6 at Churchill Downs, is scheduled to work again Oct. 30 for trainer John Shirreffs and owners Jerry and Ann Moss before shipping Nov. 2.
