Standout 3-year-old filly Zazu was supplemented to Saturday’s Clement L. Hirsch Stakes for $3,000 this morning, adding another marquee name to the event won the last three years by now-retired superstar Zenyatta.

Like Zenyatta, Zazu is owned by Jerry and Ann Moss.

Trained by John Sadler, Zazu is fresh off a win in the Hollywood Oaks on June 25 at Hollywood Park, a race in which she defeated Plum Pretty. On May 6 at Churchill Downs, Zazu finished third to Plum Pretty in the Kentucky Oaks, filly counterpart to the Kentucky Derby. Earlier, Zazu was second to Turbulent  Descent in the Santa Anita Oaks.

A field of seven was entered today for the $300,000, Grade I at 1 1/16 miles. It includes standout older females Freedom Star, Washington Bridge, Switch, Ultra Blend, St Trinians and Ellafitz.

Freedom Star, Washington Bridge, Switch and St Trinians are all graded stakes winners. Switch, also trained by Sadler, has twice won Grade I events, the La Brea in December of 2010 and the Santa Monica in January of this year at Santa Anita.
