Leading rider Edgard Zayas will get an extended break during the holidays after being handed a 10-day suspension by track stewards.

Zayas, whose suspension began Tuesday and will run through Jan. 7, was given days for careless riding during Wednesday's 10th race which resulted in Tyler Gaffalione being unseated from his mount during the opening quarter mile. Zayas leads all riders at the current Championship Meet with 16 wins. He also won the riding titles at Gulfstream Park's summer meet and the inaugural Gulfstream Park West meet.
