You Know I Know Wins Santa Anita Feature

You Know I Know, with Garrett Gomez at the controls, unleashed a well-timed stretch rally to take Santa Anita’s $50,000 seventh race, a one-mile grass claimer restricted to 4-year-olds entered for a $62,500 tag. The Kentucky-bred gelding by Simon Pure won going away by a half-length, getting the distance in 1:34.39.

Off as the fourth choice in a field of eight at odds of 9-2, You Know I Know settled well of the early pace and came with a four-wide rally in the lane to overtake Huntsville and Juan Hernandez inside the sixteenth pole.

Trained by John Sadler and owned by Chacon or Mangini Jr., You Know I Know paid $11.80, $6.20 and $4.00. With the winner’s share of $30,000, You Know I Know boosted his earnings to $120,240 from a record of 12-3-1-2.

Huntsville sat mid-pack early and rallied four-wide into the stretch, put a head in front between horses leaving the eighth pole, but couldn’t hold off the winner, finishing a half-length in front of Time Lord and Rafael Bejarano.

Huntsville paid $6.80 and $4.40.

Time Lord set the early pace and had to settle for third, paying $3.00 to show.

A Toast to You, the solid 2-1 favorite with Tyler Baze, bobbled a bit at the break but had an uneventful trip thereafter with no apparent excuses.
