Trilogy Stable & Laurie Plesa’s Yes I’m Lucky broke on top and was in complete command to the finish line to win the $100,000 Laurel Futurity for 2-year-olds, the first of seven stakes races on the Fall Festival of Racing program this afternoon at Laurel Park.

Chris DeCarlo was at the controls as the son of Yes It’s True completed the 5-1/2 furlong distance over the firm turf in 101.30, 6-1/2 lengths ahead of a rallying Tiger Bourbon and jockey Rosie Napravnik.

Eddie Plesa trains the bay colt. He paid $4.40 as the betting favorite.

“I watched the replays and I talked to Eddie and this was my first mount on this horse,” said DeCarlo. “Eddie always has them ready. I came here just for this race and I knew Eddie had the horse sharp. He broke fine and settled okay. He waits for competition so I just kept him comfortable. When I chirped at the 3/16ths pole he was full of run.”

Yes I’m Lucky was winning his third stakes after having taken the Gomez Memorial at Calder and the Tyro at Monmouth Park earlier this summer.

“This horse has been training very well,” said assistant trainer Gareem Nicholas. We wanted to get him back on turf. He’s got a lot of natural speed, so we expected him to be in front. The jockey rode him perfectly. This horse came back looking like he never ran. He will go to Florida for the winter. I think you will be seeing a lot of him in the future.”
