Yaddo Draws Competitive Field

Friday’s $100,000 Yaddo for New York-bred fillies and mares has drawn a competitive field of nine, with three also-eligibles who could run if the race is moved to the main track.

The second- through sixth-place finishers from Saratoga ’s Irish Linnet overnight stakes on July 24 – Gitchee Goomie, Frivolous Buck, Mystic City, Paraiba and Exclusive Scheme – will all meet again in the Yaddo.

Gitchee Goomie assumes the 2-1 morning-line favorite’s role in the 1 1/16-mile race off her narrow defeat to Chorus Music in the Irish Linnet. An ultra consistent 4-year-old daughter of City Zip, Gitchee Goomie has compiled an impressive record of 4-6-1 from 12 lifetime starts, with one win and two seconds over the Saratoga turf.

Four new shooters will join the field, with Rogue’s Jewel most recently victorious in a turf optional claimer at the Yaddo distance on July 25 and Great Gracie Dane exiting a third-place effort in a turf allowance here on opening Saturday. Centrina won a starter allowance on the turf at Belmont on July 7, while In Te Domine comes off a fifth-place finish in a seven-furlong turf optional claimer at Belmont on July 14. Spa City Princess, D’ Oratory and Beautiful Risk may ran if the Yaddo is moved to the main track.
