Wyomia Favored in Black-Eyed Susan

Wyomia is the 9-5 morning line favorite versus six other 3-year-old fillies in Friday's $250,000 Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico Race Course.

The Ashland (G1) runner-up won a minor stakes route at Tampa Bay in March and captured a graded affair at Woodbine as a juvenile. She failed to place in her two turf starts but has been an exacta player in her four dirt/synthetic outings. She has enough positional speed to stay within hailing distance of an expected tepid early pace.

Hot Summer might get brave if able to sneak away early under Ramon Dominguez. The Comely (G3) winner has not run farther than a flat mile around one turn but the race shape should help her cause.

Royal Delta has been impressive in a pair of sharp wins but sandwiched in between was a dull effort behind Wyomia in Florida. She may have needed the Tampa Bay flop and was visually impressive in her lastest entry level tally at Keeneland.

Buster's Ready continues to improve for Pletcher and her allowance mud romp on April 13 was her best effort to date. She reunites with John Velazquez and sports a Belmont bullet for this.

Coax Liberty has done all of her damage sprinting but the gem of consistency could spice up the exotics under Garrett Gomez.

Love Theway Youare is a late running invader from Southern California. Joel Rosario sticks with Myung Kwon Cho's well bred daughter of Arch but the pace scenario does not figure to flatter her stretch run.

Local hope Art Of The Hunt rounds out the field. Campitelli is enjoying a successful meet but the recent optional claiming winner is light on numbers.

The nine furlong Black-Eyed Susan is the 10th race on May 20 and headlines a card that also includes the $75,000 Jim McKay Turf Sprint, the $75,000 Miss Preakness Stakes, and the $75,000 Very One and Hilltop Stakes.
