Aiming next month for her eighth Grade 1 win, reigning horse of the year Thorpedo Anna worked a half-mile in 47.8 seconds Saturday morning on the fast main track at Churchill Downs. That is where trainer Kenny McPeek breezed the 4-year-old Fast Anna filly five furlongs last Saturday in 59.6 seconds.

On the way to her defense Nov. 1 in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, Thorpedo Anna is ticketed to race Oct. 5 in the Spinster (G1) at Keeneland.
Three-time Grade 1 victor Journalism worked Saturday for the first time since he finished second to Fierceness last month in the Pacific Classic (G1). Trainer Michael McCarthy put the 3-year-old Curlin colt through a half-mile drill at Santa Anita that was clocked at 48.2 seconds.
Journalism is training up to the Breeders’ Cup Classic, where he will get a rematch vs. division leader Sovereignty as well as his first chance to go against 2024 winner Sierra Leone.
