Works tab: Asmussen Breeders' Cup hopefuls drill at Keeneland
Four of trainer Steve Asmussen’s Breeders’ Cup hopefuls worked over a fast track early Sunday morning.
Breezing in company were Classic candidate Epicenter and Distaff hopeful Clairiere, who covered five furlongs in 1:01.20. Fractions for the work were :12.4, :24.6, :36.8 and 1:01.2 with a six-furlong out time of 1:14.6. The duo tied for fourth fastest of 24 works at the distance.
Cotillion (G1) winner Society worked five furlongs for the Distaff on her own in 1:01.6 with fractions of :12.4, :25, :37.6 and 1:01.6, out in 1:15.4. It was the sixth fastest of 24 works at the distance.
Champion Echo Zulu worked a half-mile on her own in :49.4 seconds in preparation for the Filly and Mare Sprint. The move, her first timed work since her victory in the Dogwood (G3) at Churchill Downs on Sept. 24, was 19th fastest of 56 works at the distance.

Shirl's Speight (Speightstown), a Grade 1 winner (2022 Maker's Mark Mile), worked five furlongs in 59.8 seconds at Woodbine on Sunday morning. It was the sixth fastest of 60 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Woodbine. In his last start he placed fourth in the Woodbine Mile (G1) going one mile on the turf at Woodbine on Sept. 17 for trainer Roger Attfield.
Going Global (Mehmas), a Grade 1 winner (2021 Del Mar Oaks), worked four furlongs in 49 seconds at Santa Anita Park on Sunday morning. It was the eighth fastest of 27 works at the distance. Her previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita Park. In her last start she placed second in the John C. Mabee (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Sept. 10 for trainer Philip D'Amato.
Sail By (Astern), a Grade 2 winner (2021 Miss Grillo), worked three furlongs in 36.7 seconds at Belmont Park on Sunday morning. It was the 10th fastest of 31 works at the distance. This is her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed eighth in the Pebbles (G3) going one mile on the turf at Belmont At The Big A on Sept. 18 for trainer Leah Gyarmati.
