Works report: Stronghold, Brightwork lead 10 Monday drills
Stronghold returned to the work tab Monday for the first time since his 10th-place finish in the Pegasus World Cup. The Phil D'Amato trainee worked three furlongs in 38.0 seconds at Santa Anita. He won the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby in 2024 and finished second in both the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby and Grade 1 Malibu Stakes as a 3-year-old, and the Pegasus was his first try against older runners.
Brightwork, unraced since finishing third in the Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) last fall, worked Monday morning at Keeneland. She went four furlongs in 48.2 seconds over the dirt, her second drill since returning to the work tab. The John Ortiz trainee won her first four starts at age 2, including the Spinaway (G1) at Saratoga, and also won the Prioress (G3) in her sophomore debut.

In her last start, she placed third in the Thoroughbred Club of America (G2) going six furlongs on the main track at Keeneland on Oct. 5 for trainer John Ortiz.
Gaming (Game Winner), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Del Mar Futurity), worked five furlongs in 58.4 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the fastest of 27 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start, he placed second in the Hot Springs going one mile on the main track at Oaklawn on March 30 for trainer Bob Baffert.
Speed Boat Beach (Bayern), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Malibu), worked five furlongs in 59.2 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the third fastest of 27 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start, he won the Malibu (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Dec. 26 for trainer Bob Baffert.
