Works report: 7 Pegasus horses including Cyberknife drill

A busy Saturday morning worktab included several final workouts for horses pointing toward the Grade 1, $3 million Pegasus World Cup.

Cyberknife, the likely favorite for the race next Saturday, worked five furlongs in 1:01.0 at Fair Grounds, third fastest of 41 moves at the distance. The Brad Cox trainee comes out of a second-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, and will try to end his career on a winning note before retiring to Spendthrift Farm to stand stud.

Defunded, pointing to the Pegasus for Bob Baffert, covered five furlongs in 59.4 seconds Saturday morning at Santa Anita, eighth fastest of 93. Last seen winning the Native Diver (G3) on Nov. 27, he seeks to extend his win streak to three races.

In addition to Cyberknife and Defunded, five other Pegasus invitees also worked on Saturday. Get Her Number, Last Samurai, Proxy and Simplification all did five-furlong final drills. Skippylongstocking, the last-out winner of the Harlan's Holiday (G3), went four furlongs Saturday.

Blazing Sevens (Good Magic), a Grade 1 winner (2022 Champagne), worked three furlongs in 38.2 seconds at Payson Park on Saturday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 13 works at the distance.
