Works report: Casa Creed, Obligatory drill Monday

Two Grade 1 winners, both trained by Bill Mott, worked Monday morning at Payson Park for the first time since racing in the Breeders' Cup.

Casa Creed, who won both the Fourstardave (G1) and the Jaipur (G1) in 2022, worked three furlongs in 37.8 seconds. A strong sprinter or router when he is at his best, the intact 7-year-old finished his 2022 with a disappointing ninth-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint where he crossed the wire 4 1/4 lengths behind long shot winner Caravel.

His stablemate Obligatory also returned to work Monday morning for her first race since finishing fifth in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, 5 3/4 lengths behind Goodnight Olive. The 5-year-old mare, who won the Derby City Distaff (G1) in 2022, drilled three furlongs in 38.0 seconds on Monday.

Casa Creed (Jimmy Creed), a three-time Grade 1 winner (2022 Fourstardave Handicap, 2022 Jaipur, 2021 Jaipur), worked three furlongs in 37.8 seconds at Payson Park on Monday morning. It was the fastest of two works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed ninth in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint going 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Keeneland on Nov. 5 for trainer Bill Mott.

Art Collector (Bernardini), a Grade 1 winner (2021 Woodward), worked five furlongs in 1:01.6 at Payson Park on Monday morning. It was the only work at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going four furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he placed fifth in the Lukas Classic (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Oct. 1 for trainer Bill Mott.

Defunded (Dialed In), a Grade 1 winner (2022 Awesome Again), worked five furlongs in 1:00.0 at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the third fastest of 27 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he won the Native Diver (G3) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 27 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Obligatory (Curlin), a Grade 1 winner (2022 Derby City Distaff), worked three furlongs in 38.0 seconds at Payson Park on Monday morning. It was the second fastest of two works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed fifth in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint going seven furlongs on the main track at Keeneland on Nov. 5 for trainer Bill Mott.

Du Jour (Temple City), a Grade 2 winner (2021 American Turf), worked five furlongs in 59.0 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the fastest of five works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed fifth in the 2021 Santa Anita Mathis Mile (G2) going one mile on the main track at Santa Anita on Dec. 26 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Field Pass (Lemon Drop Kid), a Grade 2 winner (2021 Seabiscuit Handicap), worked four furlongs in 50.0 seconds at Palm Meadows on Monday morning. It was the fifth fastest of seven works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed sixth in the Prairie Bayou going 1 1/16 miles on the synthetic at Turfway Park on Dec. 17 for trainer Mike Maker.

Instant Coffee (Bolt d'Oro), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Kentucky Jockey Club), worked five furlongs in 1:03.0 at Fair Grounds on Monday morning. It was the 12th fastest of 17 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he won the Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 26 for trainer Brad Cox.

Ready to Purrform (Kitten's Joy), a Grade 2 winner (2022 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame), worked four furlongs in 49.8 seconds at Fair Grounds on Monday morning. It was the 13th fastest of 43 works at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed 10th in the Bryan Station (G3) going one mile on the turf at Keeneland on Oct. 29 for trainer Brad Cox.

Silver Prospector (Declaration of War), a Grade 2 winner (2019 Kentucky Jockey Club), worked four furlongs in 49.8 seconds at Oaklawn on Monday morning. It was the 11th fastest of 42 works at the distance. His previous work was 21 days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he placed sixth in the Ack Ack (G3) going one mile on the main track at Churchill Downs on Oct. 1 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Lammas (Heeraat), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Berkeley Handicap), worked five furlongs in 1:00.4 at Golden Gate Fields on Monday morning. It was the fastest of 25 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going five furlongs at Golden Gate Fields. In his last start he won the Berkeley Handicap (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the synthetic at Golden Gate Fields on Nov. 26 for trainer Manuel Badilla.

Night Ops (Warrior's Reward), a Grade 3 winner (2020 Cornhusker), worked four furlongs in 49.9 seconds at Belmont Park on Monday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 39 works at the distance. His previous work was 12 days ago going five furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he placed sixth in an allowance race going 1 3/16 miles on the main track at Aqueduct on Nov. 12 for trainer Bruce R. Brown.

White Frost (Candy Ride), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Sweetest Chant), worked four furlongs in 47.5 seconds at Gulfstream Park on Monday morning. It was the sixth fastest of 14 works at the distance. Her previous work was 12 days ago going four furlongs at Payson Park. In her last start she placed second in the Winter Memories going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Aqueduct on Nov. 14 for trainer Bill Mott.
