Works report: Gunite, Silver Prospector drill for Asmussen

Grade 1 winner Gunite returned to the work tab Monday morning for the first time since finishing third in the Group 1 Dubai Golden Shaheen on March 25. The Steve Asmussen trainee, a 4-year-old son of Gun Runner, worked an easy four furlongs in 51.4 seconds at Churchill Downs. He started his year with a win in the King Cotton at Oaklawn and finished second in the Riyadh Dirt Sprint (G3) before his trip to Dubai.

Gunite was one of two graded-stakes winners under Asmussen's care to return to the work tab Monday for the first time since a race. Grade 2 winner Silver Prospector, last seen finishing sixth in the Oaklawn Mile (G3) on April 1, breezed four furlongs in 51.0 seconds over the dirt in Hot Springs.

Frank's Rockette (Into Mischief), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2020 Gallant Bloom Handicap, 2020 Prioress), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Churchill Downs on Monday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 22 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In her last start she won the Hurricane Bertie (G3) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Gulfstream Park on March 11 for trainer Bill Mott.

Closing Remarks (Vronsky), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Royal Heroine), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Santa Anita on Monday morning. It was the 22nd fastest of 53 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita.
