Sierra Leone continued his preparation for an expected defense of his Breeders' Cup Classic title on Nov. 1 at Del Mar, working four furlongs in 48.8 seconds on Saturday at Saratoga.

The long-fused son of Gun Runner, winner of three Grade 1 stakes - the 2025 Whitney and 2024 Blue Grass in addition to the Classic - recorded the 13th fastest of 56 works at the distance. His prior work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Saratoga.

In his last start he placed second to Antiquarian in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 31 for trainer Chad Brown.
