Works: Kopion tops Wednesday tab of graded-stakes winners
Kopion, a two-time Grade 1 winning filly, continued preparations for her next start on Wednesday, traveling six furlongs in 1:11.0 at Santa Anita for trainer Richard Mandella.
The four-year-old daughter of Omaha Beach, who also was trained by Mandella, captured the seven-furlong Derby City Distaff (G1) in her last start on May 3 at Churchill Downs.
Wednesday's move, the faster of two works at the distance, was her third timed workout since her last race.
Kopion has won five of her seven starts. In addition to the Derby City Distaff, Kopion has captured the La Brea Stakes (G1), the Santa Monica Stakes (G2) and the Santa Ynez Stakes (G3), all at Santa Anita, while compiling earnings of $1,024,700 for owner Spendthrift Farm.

Get Her Number (Dialed In), a Grade 1 winner (2020 American Pharoah), worked four furlongs in 50.6 seconds at Churchill Training on Wednesday morning. It was the 14th fastest of 17 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in a claiming race going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs on June 6 for trainer Peter Miller.
Hoosier Philly (Into Mischief), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Golden Rod), worked five furlongs in 59.0 seconds at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of 23 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In her last start she placed ninth in the Shawnee (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on May 31 for trainer Tom Amoss.
Boppy O (Bolt d'Oro), a Grade 3 winner (2022 With Anticipation), worked four furlongs in 49.3 seconds at Palm Meadows on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of four works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fifth in the Mr. Steele going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Gulfstream Park on May 17 for trainer Mark Casse.
Disarm (Gun Runner), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Matt Winn), worked five furlongs in 1:01.2 at Churchill Downs on Wednesday morning. It was the 19th fastest of 23 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going five furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he placed fourth in the Oaklawn Handicap (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Oaklawn on April 19 for trainer Steve Asmussen.
Firenze Flavor (Liam's Map), a Grade 3 winner (2025 Honeymoon), worked four furlongs in 47.8 seconds at Santa Anita on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of three works at the distance. Her previous work was 14 days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she won the Honeymoon (G3) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Santa Anita on May 18 for trainer Patrick Gallagher.
Senbei (Candy Ride), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Belmont Turf Sprint), worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Belmont Park on Wednesday morning. It was the 10th fastest of 40 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he placed fifth in the Elusive Quality going six furlongs on the turf at Belmont at the Big A on May 3 for trainer Christophe Clement.
