Works: Hoist the Gold is in training after 7-month break

Hoist the Gold, winner of two graded stakes in 2023 but 0-for-5 since, is back in training for Dallas Stewart.

The 6-year-old son of Mineshaft worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 Wednesday morning at Fair Grounds, third fastest of nine at the distance.

Hoist the Gold won the Phoenix (G2) and Cigar Mile (G2) in 2023, then was fourth in the Pegasus world Cup Invitational (G1) and 14th in the Saudi Cup (G1) to start 2024. He was fifth in the Churchill Downs (G1) and third in the Met Mile (G1) before finishing third in the listed Kelly's Landing at Churchill Downs on June 29, his most recent start.

He returned to the tab in December and has been working steadily at Fair Grounds since. Stewart told Horse Racing Nation in a text message Wednesday that he does not have a next start in mind.

Hoist the Gold was one of five graded-stakes winners with published works on Wednesday.

Exaulted (Twirling Candy), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Shoemaker Mile), worked four furlongs in 50.0 seconds at The Thoroughbred Center on Wednesday morning. It was the 19th fastest of 45 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at The Thoroughbred Center. Trikari (Oscar Performance), a Grade 1 winner (2024 Belmont Derby Invitational), worked four furlongs in 51.9 seconds on turf at Palm Meadows on Wednesday morning. It was the slowest of 26 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he placed sixth in the Bryan Station (G3) going one mile on the turf at Keeneland on Oct. 26 for trainer Graham Motion.

In her last start she placed second in the Mother Goose (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Belmont at the Big A on Oct. 26 for trainer Mark Hennig.

Morello (Classic Empire), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Gotham), worked four furlongs in 50.8 seconds at Louisiana Downs on Wednesday morning. It was the 18th fastest of 19 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Louisiana Downs. In his last start he placed eighth in an allowance race going five furlongs on the turf at Lone Star Park on July 12 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Speed Boat Beach (Bayern), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Malibu), worked five furlongs in 1:00.6 at Santa Anita on Tuesday morning. It was the seventh fastest of 15 works at the distance. Easter (Exosphere), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2023 San Gabriel, 2023 Seabiscuit Handicap), worked four furlongs in 49.8 seconds at Santa Anita on Tuesday morning. It was the 22nd fastest of 27 works at the distance. His previous work was 11 days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed fourth in the San Gabriel (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Santa Anita on Dec. 26 for trainer Phil D'Amato.
