Works: Be Your Best, Banishing with new trainer drill for BC

Two Breeders' Cup entrants drilled at Del Mar on Tuesday ahead of their Saturday starts.

Be Your Best, 30-1 on the morning line for the Filly & Mare Turf, went three furlongs in 36.6 seconds, third fastest of five at the distance. Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., the 5-year-old Muhaarar mare has two graded-stakes wins this year, scoring in the Grade 2 Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf in January and the Gamely (G1) in May.

Banishing, 15-1 on the morning line for the Sprint, worked three furlongs in 37.6 seconds slowest of five at the distance. Chad Summers will be the trainer of record for the Sprint. Daily Racing Form reported that regular trainer David Jacobson's workers' compensation insurance is invalid in California. The 5-year-old gelding by Ghostzapper has a 10: 4-4-1 record this year. He won the Charles Town Classic (G2) in August and was third last out in the Lukas Classic (G2).

Be Your Best (Muhaarar), a Grade 1 winner (2025 Gamely), worked three furlongs in 36.6 seconds at Del Mar on Tuesday morning. It was the third fastest of five works at the distance. Her previous work was 12 days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In her last start she placed third in the Flower Bowl (G2) going 1 3/8 miles on the turf at Saratoga on Aug. 30 for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.

Nutella Fella (Runhappy), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Hopeful), worked three furlongs in 36.2 seconds at Belmont Park on Tuesday morning. It was the fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was five days ago going five furlongs at Saratoga. In his last start he placed fourth in the True North (G3) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on June 7 for trainer Gary Contessa.

Damon's Mound (Girvin), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2023 Gallant Bob, 2022 Saratoga Special), worked three furlongs in 36.5 seconds at Saratoga on Tuesday morning. It was the only work at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In his last start he placed fourth in the Parx Sprint going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Parx on Sept. 20 for trainer Bill Mott.

Banishing (Ghostzapper), a Grade 2 winner (2025 Charles Town Classic), worked three furlongs in 37.6 seconds at Del Mar on Tuesday morning. It was the slowest of five works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Training. In his last start he placed third in the Lukas Classic (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Sept. 27 for trainer David Jacobson.

Desvio (Yoshida), a Grade 2 winner (2025 Sycamore), worked three furlongs in 37.0 seconds at Middleburg Training Center on Tuesday morning. It was the faster of two works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Sycamore (G2) going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Keeneland on Oct. 10 for trainer Madison Meyers.

Idratherbeblessed (Unified), a Grade 2 winner (2025 Muniz Memorial Classic), worked five furlongs in 59.6 seconds at Churchill Downs on Tuesday morning. It was the second fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he placed seventh in the Louisville (G3) going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Churchill Downs on May 17 for trainer Chris Hartman.

Touchuponastar (Star Guitar), a Grade 2 winner (2025 New Orleans Classic), worked four furlongs in 50.9 seconds at The Training Center At Copper Crowne on Tuesday morning. It was the 25th fastest of 40 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the Gold Cup going seven furlongs on the main track at Delta Downs on Oct. 11 for trainer Jeff Delhomme.

Tejano Twist (Practical Joke), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Whitmore), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Churchill Downs on Tuesday morning. It was the third fastest of 19 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In his last start he placed sixth in an allowance race going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs on May 16 for trainer Chris Hartman.

Uncle Heavy (Social Inclusion), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Withers), worked four furlongs in 47.4 seconds at Parx on Tuesday morning. It was the third fastest of 35 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Parx. In his last start he placed fourth in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Parx on Sept. 21 for trainer Butch Reid.
