Workouts: Taxed fires bullet; 5 graded-stakes winners breeze

With a top-level race at Saratoga being her next target, Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan winner Taxed was clocked at 59.6 seconds Friday breezing five furlongs at Churchill Downs.

The 3-year-old Collected filly had the fastest workout among the seven horses going the same distance on a smoky, hazy morning in Kentucky.

Based on what he said after last month's victory at Pimlico, trainer Randy Morse could be looking at the 1 1/8-mile Coaching Club American Oaks on July 22 or the 1 1/4-mile Alabama on Aug. 19 as the next race for Taxed. Both are Grade 1s.

His previous work was nine days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed fifth in the All American going one mile on the synthetic at Golden Gate Fields on May 29 for trainer Richard Mandella.

Kiss Today Goodbye (Cairo Prince), a Grade 2 winner (2020 San Antonio), worked five furlongs in 1:00.4 at Los Alamitos. It was the fastest of five works at the distance.
