Workouts: Taiba bullet leads 11 graded winners on Friday tabs

Preparing for his expected start in the Breeders’ Cup Classic on Nov. 5 at Keeneland, Taiba turned in a bullet workout Friday morning at Santa Anita.

With wins in the Santa Anita Derby and the Pennsylvania Derby, both Grade 1s, the 3-year-old colt by Gun Runner was clocked at 59.6 seconds going five furlongs for trainer Bob Baffert. It was the fastest of 32 works over the main track at that distance.

Taiba was one of 11 graded-stakes winners who were on the Friday work tabs across the U.S.

It was the fastest of 32 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he won the Pennsylvania Derby (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Parx Racing on Sept. 24 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Pinehurst (Twirling Candy), a Grade 1 winner (2021 Del Mar Futurity), worked five furlongs in 1:01.0 at Keeneland. It was the sixth fastest of 38 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going five furlongs at Keeneland. In his last start he placed eighth in the Amsterdam (G2) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on July 31 for trainer John Terranova.

Tripoli (Kitten's Joy), a Grade 1 winner (2021 Pacific Classic), worked four furlongs in 49.6 at Santa Anita. It was the 17th fastest of 34 works at the distance. This is his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed 5th in the Awesome Again (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on October 1 for trainer John Sadler.

Turnerloose (Nyquist), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Rachel Alexandra), worked 4 furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Churchill Downs. It was the 22nd fastest of 82 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Churchill Downs. In her last start she placed fourth in the Seneca Overnight going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Sept. 24 for trainer Brad Cox.

Damon’s Mound (Girvin), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Saratoga Special), worked 5 furlongs in 1:02.8 at Churchill Downs. It was the 28th fastest of 36 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed sixth in the Iroquois (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Sept. 17 for trainer Michelle Lovell.

Nolde (Pioneerof the Nile), a Grade 2 winner (2019 Del Mar Derby), worked 5 furlongs in 1:02.2 at Golden Gate Fields. It was the fifth fastest of 26 works at the distance.
