Working toward a possible start on opening day this month at Santa Anita, Grade 1 winner Stronghold drilled Sunday morning for trainer Phil D’Amato.
The 3-year-old Ghostzapper colt bred and owned by Eric and Sharon Waller was timed going five furlongs in 59.2 seconds on the fast main track at Santa Anita.

A possible starter Dec. 26 in the Malibu Stakes (G1), Stronghold has not raced since Sept. 21, when he finished second to Seize the Grey in the Pennsylvania Derby (G1) at Parx. He got his Grade 1 victory in the Santa Anita Derby (G1) on April 6, the only time he has raced on that track.
