Workouts: Skippylongstocking leads 17 graded winners on tab

With multimillion-dollar races on his immediate horizon, Skippylongstocking turned in the fastest workout Friday morning among the horses covering five furlongs at Palm Meadows in Florida.

A six-time graded-stakes winner, the 5-year-old Exaggerator horse owned by Daniel Alonso was clocked at 1:00.9.

Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., Skippylongstocking has been pointed to the next month’s Grade 1, $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational at Gulfstream Park with the added possibility of going to the April running of the $12 million Dubai World Cup (G1) at Meydan.

Across the U.S., there have been 17 timed workouts by graded-stakes winners since the last report before Christmas.

Friday

Skippylongstocking (Exaggerator), a three-time Grade 2 winner (2024 Charles Town Classic, 2024 Oaklawn Handicap, 2023 Charles Town Classic), worked five furlongs in 1:00.9 at Palm Meadows on Friday morning. It was the fastest of 14 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows.
