Workouts: Sierra Leone is 1 of 55 graded winners on the tab
As his connections continue to have their sights on the Grade 1 Whitney Stakes next month, Eclipse Award winner Sierra Leone went about his business Sunday morning with a workout at Saratoga.
Trained by Chad Brown for owners Peter Brant, Coolmore, Westerberg and Brook Smith, the 4-year-old winner of two Grade 1 stakes was clocked going a half-mile in 48.8 seconds on the fast main track. It was Sierra Leone’s first breeze since he finished second to Mindframe on June 28 in the Stephen Foster (G1) at Churchill Downs.

The 2024 champion 3-year-old male is expected to start Aug. 2 in the Whitney with the possibility of a rematch with Mindframe, Fierceness and White Abarrio.
