Two of Steve Asmussen's best hopes for the Breeders' Cup worked in company with one another Sunday morning in California.
Max Player, who carries 8-1 futures odds to win the $6 million Classic, and Clairiere, 10-1 in the Distaff, were clocked at 1:00.4 going five furlongs at Santa Anita. They shared the seventh-fastest time among the 62 at that distance on the work tab.
Those two were among the 30 graded-stakes winners who breezed Sunday.
