Works: Knightsbridge leads 15 Kentucky Derby candidates on tab

Knightsbridge, who has not raced since his 10 1/2-length win on debut Nov. 4, fired a bullet work Sunday to lead the list of Kentucky Derby 2024 contenders who appeared on the work tab.

The Nyquist colt was clocked at 1:01.4 going five furlongs at Payson Park in Florida for trainer Bill Mott. It was the fourth consecutive weekly workout for Knightsbridge.

Knightsbridge, who was not listed among the 39 individual choices in this weekend’s pari-mutuel Kentucky Derby Future Wager, was best-priced in the Las Vegas fixed-odds market at 75-1 to win May 4 at Churchill Downs.

Mott has not publicly identified a race for Knightsbridge’s first race in 2024.

There were 15 Derby candidates and three more of Bob Baffert’s Triple Crown possibilities who had breezes Sunday.

Knightsbridge (Nyquist) worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Payson Park on Sunday morning. It was the fastest of seven works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he won a maiden race going seven furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 4 for trainer Bill Mott.

Resilience (Into Mischief) worked five furlongs in 1:02.2 at Payson Park on Sunday morning. It was the second fastest of seven works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he placed fourth in the Risen Star (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Fair Grounds on Feb. 17 for trainer Bill Mott.

El Grande O (Take Charge Indy) worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Belmont Park on Sunday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 15 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed third in the Gotham (G3) going one mile on the main track at Aqueduct on March 2 for trainer Linda Rice.

Glengarry (Maximus Mischief) worked five furlongs in 1:01.8 at Oaklawn on Sunday morning. It was the 14th fastest of 28 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Oaklawn. In his last start he placed second in the Remington Springboard Mile going one mile on the main track at Remington Park on Dec. 15 for trainer Doug Anderson.

Alder (Hard Spun) worked four furlongs in 48.8 seconds at Fair Grounds on Sunday morning. It was the 10th fastest of 43 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Oaklawn. In his last start he placed second in an allowance race going six furlongs on the main track at Fair Grounds on Jan. 18 for trainer Brad Cox.

General Ledger (Summer Front) worked three furlongs in 37.0 seconds at Gulfstream Park on Sunday morning. It was the fifth fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Gulfstream Park. In his last start he placed fifth in an allowance race going 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 10 for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.

Pandagate (Arrogate) worked five furlongs in 1:03.2 at Payson Park on Sunday morning. It was the fifth fastest of seven works at the distance.
