Workouts: For new co-owner, White Abarrio is on busy tab
Hours before it was reported he has a new co-owner, Breeders’ Cup Classic winner White Abarrio worked a half-mile Friday morning at Santa Anita.
The 5-year-old was clocked at 47.6 seconds on the main track in the latest of his weekly workouts for trainer Rick Dutrow’s team in preparation for next month’s Grade 1, $30 million Saudi Cup.

Mark Cornett, whose family operates the C2 Racing Stable, told Daily Racing Form that he sold a minor share of White Abarrio to Prince Faisal bin Khalid of Saudi Arabia. Cornett said the horse will race in the burgundy and gray colors of the prince’s Red Stable. He also said if all goes well, the son of Race Day will be aimed toward the Dubai World Cup (G1), the Met Mile (G1), the Whitney (G1) and an attempt to repeat in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

It was the sixth fastest of 73 works at the distance. His previous work was five days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he won the Breeders’ Cup Classic going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Nov. 4 for trainer Rick Dutrow.
Locked (Gun Runner), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Breeders’ Futurity), worked five furlongs in 1:00.6 at Palm Beach Downs. It was the faster of two works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going five furlongs at Palm Beach Downs. In his last start he placed third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Nov. 3 for trainer Todd Pletcher.
Muth (Good Magic), a Grade 1 winner (2023 American Pharoah), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the 22nd fastest of 73 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he won the San Vicente (G2) going seven furlongs on the main track at Santa Anita on Jan. 6 for trainer Bob Baffert.
Queen Goddess (Empire Maker), a Grade 1 winner (2021 American Oaks), worked five furlongs in 59.6 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the fifth fastest of 44 works at the distance. Her previous work was seven days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start she placed ninth in the Matriarch (G1) going one mile on the turf at Del Mar on Dec. 3 for trainer Michael McCarthy.
Stilleto Boy (Shackleford), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Santa
Anita Handicap), worked five furlongs in 1:01.0 at Santa Anita. It was the 21st
fastest of 44 works at the distance. His previous work was five days ago going
four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed fifth in the San
Antonio (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Dec. 26 for
trainer Ed Moger.
Agate Road (Quality Road), a Grade 2 winner (2023
Pilgrim), worked four furlongs in 50.5 seconds at Palm Beach Downs. It was the
14th fastest of 16 works at the distance. This was his first work since his
last race. In his last start he placed second in the Dania Beach going one mile
