Workouts: Fierceness returns to tab, 1 of 52 graded winners

Three weeks after he uncorked one of the best speed figures of the year, Grade 1 Travers Stakes winner Fierceness returned to the work tab Sunday.

The Eclipse Award winner owned by Mike Repole and trained by Todd Pletcher breezed a half-mile in 50.6 seconds, his first timed workout since he was given a 111 Beyer Speed Figure last out, according to Daily Racing Form.

Pletcher said Fierceness will train up to the Breeders’ Cup Classic, which will be run at Del Mar on Nov. 2.

There were 52 graded-stakes winners on the U.S. and Canada work tab Sunday.

Fierceness (City of Light), a three-time Grade 1 winner (2024 Travers, 2024 Florida Derby, 2023 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile), worked four furlongs in 50.6 seconds at Saratoga on Sunday morning.
