Workouts: Elite Power is 1 of 31 graded-stakes winners on tabs

Training up to his farewell from racing in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Santa Anita next month, Elite Power breezed four furlongs Friday on the Oklahoma training track at Saratoga.

The two-time Grade 1 winner, who finished first in last year’s Sprint at Keeneland, was clocked at 49.91 seconds covering four furlongs on the fast track for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott.

Juddmonte announced Friday that Elite Power, who finished second last out in the Forego (G1) at Saratoga, will begin his breeding career in 2024 at its stallion farm near Lexington, Ky.

There were 31 graded-stakes winners who breezed at U.S. and Canada tracks Friday morning.

Elite Power (Curlin), a two-time Grade 1 winner (2023 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap, 2022 Breeders’ Cup Sprint), worked four furlongs in 49.9 seconds at Saratoga on Friday morning. It was the 19th fastest of 58 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In his last start he placed second in the Forego (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 26 for trainer Bill Mott.

Channel Maker (English Channel), a four-time Grade 1 winner, worked four furlongs in 50.5 seconds at Saratoga. It was the 27th fastest of 58 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In his last start he placed sixth in the Sword Dancer (G1) going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Saratoga on Aug. 26 for trainer Bill Mott.

Echo Zulu (Gun Runner), a four-time Grade 1 winner, worked four furlongs in 50.8 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the 29th fastest of 31 works at the distance. Her previous work was 13 days ago going four furlongs at Saratoga. In her last start she won the Ballerina Handicap (G1) going seven furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 26 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Doppelgänger (Into Mischief), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Carter Handicap), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Laurel Park. It was the eighth fastest of 22 works at the distance. Exaulted (Twirling Candy), a Grade 1 winner (2023 Shoemaker Mile), worked four furlongs in 47.4 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the second fastest of five works at the distance.
