Last year’s Grade 1 Arkansas Derby winner Angel of Empire continued his return from a long break with a workout Friday morning at Fair Grounds.
The third-place finisher in last year’s Kentucky Derby went a half-mile in 49.0 seconds in his third breeze in as many weeks for trainer Brad Cox.

Unraced since his third-place result nearly seven months ago in the Jim Dandy (G2) at Saratoga, Angel of Empire has not been aimed publicly at any particular comeback race.
