Workout report: 20 graded-stakes winners breeze Sunday

Working toward a likely start next month at Gulfstream Park in the Grade 1, $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational, Proxy returned to the track for a breeze Sunday morning.

The soon-to-be 5-year-old Tapit colt who won the Clark Stakes (G1) last month at Churchill Downs was clocked at 48.6 seconds for his half-mile turn around the main track at Fair Grounds in New Orleans.

“Proxy is probable” for the Pegasus, according to a text message Wednesday from Godolphin USA chief operating officer Dan Pride.

Twenty graded-stakes winners appeared on work tabs across the country Sunday.

Proxy (Tapit), a Grade 1 winner (2022 Clark), worked four furlongs in 48.6 seconds at Fair Grounds on Sunday morning. It was the sixth fastest of 72 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he won the Clark (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 25 for trainer Michael Stidham.

Gunite (Gun Runner), a Grade 1 winner (2021 Hopeful), worked four furlongs in 51.6 seconds at Fair Grounds. It was the 63rd fastest of 72 works at the distance. His previous work was six days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile going one mile on the main track at Keeneland on Nov. 5 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Super Stock (Dialed In), a Grade 1 winner (2021 Arkansas Derby), worked four furlongs in 51.0 seconds at Fair Grounds. It was the 54th fastest of 72 works at the distance. His previous work was five days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed sixth in the Blame going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on June 4 for Asmussen.

Masteroffoxhounds (War Front), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2022 John Henry Turf Championship, 2021 San Marcos), worked five furlongs in 59.4 seconds at Santa Anita. It was the third fastest of 25 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed third in the Seabiscuit Handicap (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Del Mar on Nov. 26 for trainer Phil D’Amato.

Slow Down Andy (Nyquist), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2022 Del Mar Derby, 2021 Los Alamitos Futurity), worked five furlongs in 1:00.4 at Santa Anita. It was the 11th fastest of 60 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he placed third in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile going one mile on the main track at Keeneland on Nov. 5 for trainer Doug O’Neill.

Andthewinneris (Oscar Performance), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Bourbon), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Fair Grounds. It was the fourth fastest of 72 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf going one mile on the turf at Keeneland on Nov. 4 for trainer Wayne Catalano.

Emmanuel (More Than Ready), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Pennine Ridge), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Palm Beach Downs. It was the fastest of two works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going three furlongs at Palm Beach Downs. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed eighth in the Go for Wand (G3) going one mile on the main track at Aqueduct on Dec. 3 for trainer Rob Atras.

Boppy O (Bolt d’Oro), a Grade 3 winner (2022 With Anticipation), worked three furlongs in 36.8 seconds at Palm Meadows. It was the third fastest of 22 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed ninth in the Street Sense (G3) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Oct. 30 for trainer Mark Casse.

Candy Man Rocket (Candy Ride), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Sam F. Davis), worked five furlongs in 1:03.0 at Payson Park. It was the second fastest of four works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Payson Park.
