Three-time Grade 1 winners Sovereignty and Sierra Leone, who are headed for a showdown in 20 days at the Breeders’ Cup Classic, had workouts Sunday morning at Saratoga.
The winner of the Kentucky Derby, Belmont and Travers (G1) stakes, 3-year-old Sovereignty worked a bullet five furlongs in 59.8 seconds. It was the fastest of four drills covering that distance during the Sunday training period on the Oklahoma dirt training track.

Four-year-old Sierra Leone, the winner of the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Classic, went a half-mile in 48.5 seconds for the fifth-fastest of 64 works covering that distance Sunday.
The two multimillionaires are expected to have one more Saratoga workout each before being shipped to Del Mar for the Nov. 1 running of the $7 million Classic.

Sovereignty (Into Mischief), a three-time Grade 1 winner (2025 Travers, 2025 Belmont, 2025 Kentucky Derby), worked five furlongs in 59.8 seconds at Saratoga on Sunday morning.
