Woodward Stakes 2016: Odds and Picks
The Woodward Stakes 2016 runs this Saturday at Saratoga Race Course. The Grade 1 race is for three-year-olds and up at a mile and an eighth and the nine horse field is headed up by Godolphin Racing’s Frosted. For picks, follow The Woodward 2016: Odds and Analysis from Zipse at the Track.
Post positions and odds for the Woodward are below as seen on the HRN Stakes Tracker.
Frosted rolls into the Woodward off of two brilliant Grade 1 wins in the Metropolitan Handicap and the Whitney. The Kiaran McLaughlin trainee is deservedly the heavy favorite, appearing better than ever in his past two performances. The son of Tapit has been nothing but fierce since returning from his loss in the Dubai World Cup. He is preparing for another match-up with California Chrome in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Stablemate Mubtaahij comes into the Woodward off a third in the Suburban Handicap. Before Mubtaahij was transferred to the McLaughlin barn, he and Frosted met up for the third time in the Dubai World Cup. Although Frosted finished ahead of Mubtaahij in the 2015 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, it was Mubtaahij who was runner-up to California Chrome in Dubai while Frosted finished fifth.
Also looking to keep his winning streak alive is Bradester. He is three-for-three this year with wins in the Majestic Light, Stephen Foster Handicap, and Monmouth Cup.
