On Monday Woodbine released the official wagering menu for the 166th running of the King’s Plate, taking place Aug. 16.

The US$728,085 King’s Plate, Canada’s most prestigious horse race, covers 1 1/4 miles on the Tapeta and is open to sophomores bred in Canada. It will headline one of Woodbine's flagship days of racing and wagering, and features an extensive array of bets.

Beyond the King’s Plate, the card features five other stakes races. Those include the E. P. Taylor (G1) for filly and mare turf routers, the King Edward (G2) for turf milers aged 3 and up, the Bold Venture (G3) for synthetic-track sprinters aged 3 and up, the Catch a Glimpse for juvenile fillies sprinting on grass, and the Soaring Free for juveniles sprinting on grass. The E.P. Taylor Stakes has been added to this year’s Breeders’ Cup challenge series as an official win and you're in race. The winner earns an automatic, fees-paid berth into the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf on Nov. 1 at Del Mar.

A total of $1 million in guaranteed Pick 5 pools will anchor the day’s betting opportunities, giving fans added incentive to engage with Canada's biggest day in Thoroughbred racing. Among the day’s featured wagers is the exciting debut of the Kings & Queens Pick 3, a special Pick 3 sequence linking the King Edward, the E. P. Taylor and the King's Plate. This special Pick 3 will carry a $5 minimum and player-friendly 15% takeout.

Other multi-race wagers on the King's Plate card include a US$145,617 guaranteed early Pick 5, middle and late Pick 5 sequences with US$291,234 guaranteed and a Pick 6 with a mandatory payout. There will also be a mandatory payout in the jackpot Hi-5 wager.
