Town Cruise, upset winner of Saturday's Woodbine Mile (G1), a "win and you're in" for the Breeders' Cup Mile, will bypass the race and instead be sent to the farm for a break.

Owner, trainer and co-breeder Brandon Greer noted to Daily Racing Form Tuesday that Town Cruise, a 6-year-old gelding by Town Prize, is not nominated to the Breeders' Cup and running there was never in the plans.

“I feel that running him again this year is anti-climatic to him," Greer told DRF. We’ll let him have the winter to roll around in the snowbanks."

In the Woodbine Mile, Town Cruise and jockey Daisuke Fukumoto looked on paper to have a decided pace advantage as the only true speed horse in the race. It played out that way exactly. Town Cruise seized the early lead from the gate and remained there until the wire to prevail by 2 1/4 lengths.

Town Cruise this year sports a mark of 4: 3-0-1 with earnings of USD$700,106. In four seasons of racing, he has banked USD$789,642 with a record 6-2-1 from 14 starts.
