Withers Stakes 2017: Odds and Picks
The $250,000 Grade 3 Withers Stakes attracted a field of 10 three-year-old colts for Saturday's 1 1/16 miles race. The deserved favorite is El Areeb, who returns to Aqueduct in search of additional points on the 2017 Kentucky Derby trail.
Picks for the Withers can be found at El Areeb stands out in the Withers from A New York State of Racing. Withers odds and post positions can be seen below from the HRN Stakes Tracker.
El Areeb, the 6-5 morning line favorite, rides a three-race win streak into the Withers. After breaking his maiden third time out, the Exchange Rate colt took both the James F. Lewis III Stakes and the Grade 3 Jerome Stakes. El Areeb is the lone stakes winner in the field, and he left fellow Withers entries Bonus Points and True Timber 11 ¼ lengths behind last out in the Jerome.
J Boys Echo is the second choice at 4-1. With one win from three starts, the son of Mineshaft will try stakes company for the second time following a fourth place effort in the Grade 3 Delta Downs Jackpot. J Boys Echo was a 5 ½ length maiden winner at Keeneland back in October.
A four length winner last out, 5-1 Apartfromthecrowd steps up from maiden to stakes level. The Gio Ponti colt hails from the Chad Brown stable and is owned by Klaravich Stables, Inc. and William H. Lawrence, the same connections of Kentucky Derby contender and two-time Grade 1 winner Practical Joke.
