Winx to make much anticipated raceday debut at Flemington Saturday
The World’s Best Horse on Turf, Winx, will make her much anticipated raceday debut at Flemington this Saturday on Seppelt Turnbull Stakes Day.
Jockey Hugh Bowman will put the finishing touches on Winx ahead of Saturday’s $500,000 Group 1 Seppelt Turnbull Stakes (2000m),with a final track gallop on the Flemington steeple grass at 5:45am tomorrow.
Media are invited to capture vision of Winx’s gallop at 5:45am from the Kennedy Clock Tower, adjacent to the Mounting Yard.
Following her track work, Winx will then be joined by Hugh Bowman, trainer Chris Waller and owners Peter and Patty Tighe, who will then make themselves available to media from 6:30am in the Turf Nursery at Flemington.
Following a morning with Winx, the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) will unveil The Bart Cummings Trophy Collection at 11am in Saintly Place.
The Bart Cummings Trophy Collection contains 149 trophies bequeathed to the VRC by Bart Cummings, and will form a permanent trackside tribute to the man known as the Cups King.
Sharing their personal memories of Bart will be son Anthony Cummings, grandson James Cummings, author Les Carlyon AC and the owner of Bart’s 1999 Melbourne Cup winning horse Rogan Josh, Wendy Green.
Now a resident at Victoria’s Living Legends, Rogan Josh will be in attendance alongside Precedence, a four-time runner in the Emirates Melbourne Cup and the horse who gave Bart and James Cummings their first runner as a training partnership in Australia’s greatest race.
Hosted by Channel 7’s Jason Richardson, the event will be the first opportunity to view the collection before it is open to the public on Seppelt Turnbull Stakes Day.
