As Winx traveled down the lane Saturday at Moonee Valley, Humidor in close chase, the mare left some doubt as to whether she’d win a third straight Cox Plate.

Her margin of victory in Horse Racing Nation’s Horse of the Week poll proved much more comfortable as Winx earned 63 percent of the vote.

The Cox Plate win tied a record for consecutive victories in that noted Group 1 race in Australia. It was also Winx’s 22nd straight win overall.

What’s next for her, we don’t yet know, but connections have spoken of a European campaign before the 6-year-old’s retirement.

Tom’s Ready, winner of a stacked renewal of Belmont Park’s Grade 3 Bold Ruler Handicap, was second in the voting with 15 percent. Keeneland’s Fayette Stakes winner The Player (8 percent) was the other significant vote-getter.

HRN’s Horse of the Week poll — voted on by readers — runs each Monday through Wednesday on our website’s homepage.
