Winning Colors fair odds: Bet this filly out of Kopion's shadow

Bob Baffert has won 56 graded stakes at Kentucky tracks but none since Du Jour and Gamine both won on Kentucky Derby day 2021 at Churchill Downs and did not get disqualified as Medina Spirit did.

The Hall of Fame trainer is in an excellent spot to snap that streak Monday at Churchill when his team saddles Hope Road in the Grade 3 Winning Colors for fillies and mares going six furlongs on the main track.

Even better for bettors is that Hope Road could offer value thanks to the presence of Two Sharp from the barn of Phil Bauer. Hope Road is 7-5 and Two Sharp 8-5 on Mike Battaglia's morning line, making my fair odds of 3-2 on Hope Road possible.

Hope Road is on a bit of a streak of her own. After winning four consecutive races she has lost three straight, each to Kopion. Kopion is back in California but Hope Road stayed at Churchill after finishing second to her in the Derby City Distaff (G1).

Two Sharp on the other hand is coming in off a six-month layoff after closing her 3-year-old season with impressive consecutive victories by a combined 12 lengths. But facing older for the first time off the bench makes taking a short price a big ask.

Easy Red and Harbor Springs both are long shots who could spice things up underneath our top pick, given they figure to benefit from any spirited pace that develops with the presence of true outsider Miss Arlington.
