WinStar sets 2019 stud fees as Always Dreaming, Good Samaritan enter
WinStar Farm on Thursday announced 2019 stud fees for its 22-stallion roster, again headed by Pioneerof the Nile who will stand for a fee of $110,000 S&N this upcoming breeding season. WinStar also welcomes two new stallions to its roster in Always Dreaming, winner of the 2017 Kentucky Derby and Florida Derby (G1), along with Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) winner Good Samaritan.

Pioneerof the Nile remains in the upper echelon of sires with outstanding results on the racetrack and in the sales ring. He is the sire of two 2-Year-Old Male Eclipse Award winners and two Breeders’ Cup winners from his first four crops to race: Horse of the Year and Triple Crown winner American Pharoah and Classic Empire. His 2018 sale yearlings include prices up to $1,050,000, $1,000,000, $950,000, etc., and his 2-year-olds include an $850,000 colt, the second-highest price of the OBS March sale. He is the No. 1 sire of his generation for the past three years and the No. 1 sixth-crop cumulative sire in nearly every category.
His fee will remain at $110,000.
Always Dreaming and Good Samaritan are new to the roster for 2019.
By Bodemeister, Always Dreaming hails from the Unbridled sire line, the most dominant classic sire in recent years. Always Dreaming broke his maiden by an eye-catching 11 ½ lengths in January of his 3-year-old season and rattled off four consecutive victories, culminating with his triumph in the 143rdKentucky Derby. He captured the Florida Derby by a decisive five lengths in his stakes debut, covering 1 1/8 miles in 1:47.47, marking the fastest running of the race since Alydar in 1978. Always Dreaming will stand his first season for $25,000 S&N.
Good Samaritan, a versatile millionaire son of Harlan’s Holiday, was a 4 ¾-length winner of the $600,000 Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) in his first start on the dirt and is also a Graded winner on the turf, having annexed the Summer Stakes (G2) at Woodbine at two. He captured the $400,000 New Orleans Handicap (G2) in his 4-year-old debut and won or placed in eight Graded stakes while earning $1,309,450. Good Samaritan is from a deep female family. His fourth dam, La Affirmed, is the granddam of Grade 1 winners Sky Mesa and Monthir and a half-sister to Champion 2-Year-Old Filly Outstandingly. Good Samaritan will stand for $12,500 S&N.
