WinStar Farm Tops 2016 North American Individual Breeders List

WinStar Farm LLC has topped the individual breeders list in North America in 2016 for the first time with $10,516,427 in earnings, according to statistics released today by The Jockey Club Information Systems. WinStar bred 237 starters with 239 wins, 184 seconds, and 184 thirds out of 1,417 starts.

Adena Springs, which led the breeders list from 2003 until 2012, was second with earnings of $6,888,021 with 230 wins out of 1,546 starts.

WinStar Farm also topped the breeders list that includes partners with $11,823,004 in earnings and 297 wins from 1,894 starts. Darley came in second with $8,975,526 in earnings and 180 wins out of 1,151 starts.

Rounding out the top 10 individual breeders were Darley, $6,837,883 (110 wins / 637 starts); Kenneth L. Ramsey & Sarah K. Ramsey, $6,781,567 (222/1,573); Clearsky Farms, $6,635,780 (39/217); Brereton C. Jones, $5,058,220 (218/1,535); Charles Fipke, $4,904,542 (112/785); Spendthrift Farm LLC, $4,813,640 (87/648); Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC, $4,454,998 (90/601); and Summerhill Farm, $3,581,130 (3/13).

Rounding out the top 10 breeders including partnerships were Adena Springs, $7,409,886 (246 wins / 1,689 starts); Kenneth L. Ramsey & Sarah K. Ramsey, $6,842,696 (226/1,592); Clearsky Farms, $6,646,750 (39/222); Brereton C. Jones, $5,815,059 (259/1,816); Charles Fipke, $4,998,272 (117/856); Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC, $4,993,123 (114/738); Machmer Hall, $4,982,259 (96/573); and Spendthrift Farm LLC, $4,813,640 (87/648).
