William Entenmann Steeplechase at BEL

All Together, the reigning National Steeplechase Association novice champion, and reigning NSA 3-year-old champion Demonstrative highlight a talent-laden field for Sunday’s $50,000 William Entenmann Novice Hurdle Stake.

They will be attempting to turn the tables on  Complete Zen, who prevailed by a nose over All Together in the $50,000 National Hunt Cup on May 21, with Demonstrative  third, 8 ½ lengths farther back. Trained by Lilith Boucher and ridden by her husband, Richard Boucher, Complete Zen will carry the Entenmann's 156-pound high weight under the allowance conditions.

The top three will face several promising newcomers including Lake Placid, who has scored two optional allowance wins since being claimed for $10,000 in April; One Giant Step and Italian Wedding, trained by Hall of Famer Jonathan Sheppard, and recent allowance winner Ballet Boy.

Call You in Ten, Slaney Rock, and Good Request complete the field for the 2 ¼-mile race over national fences.

The Belmont steeplechase race honors the memory of William Entenmann III, a longtime steeplechase owner who died January 1 at age 79. Grandson of Entenmann bakery's founder, the Long Island resident served as a company executive for many years. His Timber Bay Stable won the New York Turf Writers Cup at Saratoga with Yaw in 1991 and 1992 and with Bisbalense in 1997. On the flat, Artie Schiller won the Grade 1 2005 Breeders’ Cup Mile in the name of Timber Bay and Entenmann’s daughter, Denise Walsh.
