Willcox Inn Returns to Worktab

All In Stable’s Willcox Inn, third in the Grade II Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Churchill Downs and third in the Grade I Breeders’ Futurity over Keeneland’s Polytrack before that, returned to the work tab Friday morning at Fair Grounds, going three furlongs in 37.20.

“That was his first work this morning, so I’m not really committing to anything right now – turf or dirt – for his first start,” said trainer Mike Stidham shortly after the move. “If we decide it’s going to be on grass, the ($60,000) Mardi Gras Stakes (at about 7 1/2 furlongs over the Stall-Wilson turf course March 8) might be a good spot for him.”

Stidham also indicated that Prime Equestrian’s Flash Mash, winner of her local bow by more than 10 lengths Nov. 27 before disappointing in Delta’s $200,000 My Trusty Cat Stakes Jan. 14, might be pointed for the $60,000 Tiffany Lass Stakes at six furlongs Feb. 5, although those plans were far from definite.

APART BEING POINTED FOR MINESHAFT HANDICAP

Trainer Al Stall Jr. indicated Friday morning that Adele Dilschneider’s Grade III Super Derby winner Apart remained on track for a start in the Grade III Mineshaft Handicap on Feb. 19 at Fair Grounds.

Stall breezed Adele Dilschneider’s Might four furlongs in 48.80 Friday morning. Might is an unstarted full sister to Claiborne Farm and Adele Dilschneider’s Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Blame.
