Hey racing fans: I know you's out there, reading Horse Racing Nation for the latest news, studying past performances every weekend, shaking your head over the latest racing controversy, and wishing you could get more involved in the sport you love.
I was in your spot not too long ago.
The University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program was my foot in the door to the greatest game. And now, for the first time new students can apply for a chance that I could only have dreamed of: a full four-year scholarship!
The Odds On Racing Scholarship will give an out-of-state student the opportunity of a lifetime -- to get in-depth instruction on the unique business and government aspects of horse racing, the hands-on horse experience, and best of all, an immersive internship at a race track or with a top trainer. That's all without the pressure of taking out student loans.
My experience in the program was downright magical. I met Zenyatta's team right at the peak of the great mare's career, and was present at Del Mar for her 18th win. I even got down and dirty at the U of A's farm, where the cutest foals and their cautious mothers gamboled in a saguaro-lined paradise. My classmates came from all over and were so fun to get to know. Plus, they taught me plenty about picking winners!
As an out-of-state student, my biggest worry was how I was going to pay for it. My grades were pretty good, but even with the available financial aid, I still had to borrow a serious chunk from good old Sallie Mae. It was absolutley worth it. But with this new scholarship, *you* won't have to do what I did!
The deadline to submit your application for the Odds On Racing Scholarship is this Saturday, June 30. It's an entry box you don't want to miss!
