Whitmore, Bellafina lead graded stakes works on Friday

Grade 1 winner Whitmore and three-time Grade 1 winner Bellafina highlight graded stakes winners working out across the country on Friday. Whitmore is gearing up for the Grade 1 Vanderbilt next month at Saratoga.

Whitmore (Pleasantly Perfect), a Grade 1 winner (2018 Forego), worked 4 furlongs in 49.4 at Churchill Downs on Friday morning. It was the 26th fastest of 46 works at the distance. His previous work was 12 days ago going 4 Furlongs at Keeneland. In his last start, he placed 1st in the Count Fleet Sprint H. (G3) going 6 furlongs on the main track at Oaklawn Park on April 18 for trainer Ron Moquett.  Whitmore is possible for the Grade 1 Vanderbilt on July 25 at Saratoga.

Bellafina (Quality Road), a three time Grade 1 winner (2019 Santa Anita Oaks, 2018 Chandelier, 2018 Del Mar Debutante), worked 4 furlongs in 50.0 at Del Mar on Friday morning. It was the 44th fastest of 58 works at the distance. This is her first work since her last race. In her last start, she placed 2nd in the Great Lady M (G2) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Los Alamitos Race Course on July 4 for trainer Simon Callaghan.

Thousand Words (Pioneerof the Nile), a Grade 2 winner (2019 Los Alamitos Futurity), worked 5 furlongs in 1:00.6 at Del Mar on Friday morning. It was the 9th fastest of 79 works at the distance. This is his first work since his last race. In his last start, he placed 2nd in the Los Alamitos Derby (G3) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Los Alamitos Race Course on July 4 for trainer Bob Baffert. Thousand Words is listed as possible to make his next start in the Ellis Park Derby on August 9th. 

Royal Charlotte (Cairo Prince), a Grade 2 winner (2019 Prioress), worked 4 furlongs in 49.7 at Belmont Park on Friday morning. It was the third fastest of 15 works at the distance. Her previous work was 7 days ago going 4 Furlongs at Belmont Park. In her last start, she placed 5th in the Vagrancy H. (G3) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the main track at Belmont Park on June 27 for trainer Chad Brown.
