What Las Vegas thinks of runners in weekend Ky. Derby preps
There are a lot of similarities between Kentucky Derby futures in Nevada for the entries in Saturday's Louisiana Derby (G1) and the morning-line odds for the race.
The tables below show the best odds available from either Caesars Sportsbook at William Hill Nevada or Circa Sports for the likely runners in the Louisiana Derby and the Sunland Derby (G3), to be run Sunday.
Epicenter is the morning-line favorite, at 7-5, for the Louisiana Derby, which offers 100-40-20-10 Kentucky Derby points to the top four finishers. The Steve Asumssen trainee, winner of the Risen Star (G2), also has the shortest odds in the field in Las Vegas futures at 12-1.
Then we come to the second choice on the morning line, Pioneer of Medina, at 5-1. The best Las Vegas futures put him at 150-1.
And then two starters are at 6-1 on the morning line: Call Me Midnight and Rattle N Roll. The former is best-priced in Vegas at 100-1, and the latter is best-priced at 25-1.
A similar divergence is seen for the three horses at 8-1. Zozos is best-priced in Las Vegas at 35-1, while Kupuna is at 250-1 and Galt is at 150-1.
