West Point Thoroughbreds on Sunday announced the leading racing partnership has bought into 2018 Kentucky Derby contender My Boy Jack, who’s also campaigned by Monomoy Stables and Don’t Tell My Wife Stables.

The recent Grade 3 Lexington Stakes winner arrived this afternoon to Churchill Downs, where he’s scheduled to breeze once before the May 5 Derby. In four starts at age 3, the son of Creative Cause hasn’t missed the board and also won the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes.

“I’ve always liked this horse and admire his versatility,” West Point’s Terry Finley said in a news release. “There’s great karma surrounding this colt and his connections, and he’s coming out swinging this year despite several rough trips.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to join an awesome ownership group and thrilled to provide a dedicated group of our partners the chance to once again experience the magic of the Derby dream.”

West Point also purchased an interest in Always Dreaming last year before the colt’s Florida Derby victory. Of course, he also went on to win the Kentucky Derby. The partnership also owns a piece of Kentucky Oaks contender Coach Rocks, who won the Gulfstream Park Oaks in her last start.

My Boy Jack will carry the Monomoy silks in the Kentucky Derby.
