Wellingtons Appeal sat off an early pace battle before pushing past her rivals in the final few yards to post a half-length victory in the $32,000 allowance/optional claiming feature at the Meadowlands on Saturday afternoon.

Trained by Richard Vega and piloted by Maria Remedio, Wellingtons Appeal covered the five furlongs over firm turf in :57 1/5 and returned $5.60, $3.80 and $2.80 as the favorite in the field of seven fillies and mares.  Look at Me Dance completed the $48.60 exacta and paid $16 and $6.40.  It was another neck back to Magic Mesa, who paid $2.80 to show.

Wellingtons Appeal, a 4-year-old filly by Half Ours from the Valid Appeal mare Wellingtons Choice, has won six of her 19 lifetime starts.

The all-turf Monmouth-at-Meadowlands Thoroughbred meet continues on Monday, Oct. 28 – gates open 11:30 a.m., first post 2:15 p.m.
