Wednesday's Rainbow 6 Carryover Stands at $359,359.39
The 20-cent Rainbow 6 went unsolved for the 14th straight program at Gulfstream Park Sunday, resulting in a $359,359.39 carryover for Wednesday’s 11-race card.
Multiple tickets were sold with all six winners Saturday, each worth $23,742.04
The popular multi-race program was last solved on Jan. 13, when a lucky bettor took down a jackpot of $76,799.38.
The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
In addition to the Rainbow 6 carryover, there will be a $3,167.03 carryover for the Super Hi-5 in Wednesday’s first race.
Pletcher-Trained Outlash Outlasts Rival, Objection for Feature Victory
Repole Stable’s Outlash outlasted a late-running Unbridled Juan and a subsequent stewards’ review of a rider objection to win Sunday’s co-featured ninth race at Gulfstream Park.
Trained by Todd Pletcher, the lightly raced 4-year-old colt chased the early pace before taking the lead on the far turn and battling through the stretch to prevail by a neck over Unbridled Juan. The second-place finisher’s jockey Javier Castellano filed an objection, claiming interference by Outlash, who drifted out through the stretch under jockey John Velazquez. After a review, the stewards dismissed the objection.
Outlash, who ran a mile in 1:35.04, was making his second start off a seven-month layoff, following up a close second-place finish in his return at Gulfstream Dec. 3.
“He’s always been a promising colt. He had a little bit of a knee issue that we had to give him some time off,” Pletcher said. “He’s come back well. I thought he ran well off the layoff and even better today in what I thought was a very, very tough A-other-than (allowance).”
The son of Unbridled Song broke his maiden at first asking in January 2015 before finishing second at Keeneland in three months later and finishing off the board in the Sir Barton Stakes on the Preakness undercard at Pimlico.
“I think he’ll stretch out. I like the way he finished and galloped out. We’ll see what the options are and how he comes out of it,” Pletcher said.
Who’s Hot: Jockey Corey Lanerie scored a pair of wins on turf, clicking with Karlyrae’swarrior ($17.60) in the fourth and Silver Dagger ($20) in the seventh.
