Wednesday works: Prince Abama leads graded-stakes winners

Prince Abama, winner of the Grade 3 San Marcos on Feb. 5, got back to work Wednesday at Santa Anita.

The 6-year-old gelding went five furlongs in 1:00.6, the second fastest of 11 at the distance.

Trained by Phil D'Amato, Prince Abama won the Hollywood Turf Cup (G2) in November and was fourth in the San Gabriel (G2) in December before returning in the San Marcos, which he won by a neck after a rally in the stretch.

Prince Abama was one of six graded-stakes winners with published works in the U.S. on Wednesday.

Prince Abama (Tamayuz), a Grade 2 winner (2022 Hollywood Turf Cup), worked five furlongs in 1:00.6 at Santa Anita on Wednesday morning. It was the second fastest of 11 works at the distance. His previous work was 15 days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In his last start he won the San Marcos (G3) going 1 1/4 miles on the turf at Santa Anita on Feb. 5 for trainer Phil D'Amato.

Webslinger (Constitution), a Grade 2 winner (2023 American Turf), worked four furlongs in 52.6 seconds on turf at Palm Meadows on Wednesday morning. It was the 26th fastest of 31 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed sixth in the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1) going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 27 for trainer Mark Casse.

Big Invasion (Declaration of War), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Quick Call), worked four furlongs in 50.4 seconds at Payson Park on Wednesday morning. It was the second fastest of nine works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going three furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he placed second in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint going five furlongs on the turf at Santa Anita on Nov. 4 for trainer Christophe Clement.

Duke of Love (Cupid), a Grade 3 winner (2023 West Virginia Governor's), worked four furlongs in 51.1 seconds at Palm Meadows on Wednesday morning. It was the 15th fastest of 20 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he placed fifth in the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) going 1 1/4 miles on the main track at Saratoga on Sept. 2 for trainer Josie Carroll.

Mo Stash (Mo Town), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Transylvania), worked four furlongs in 51.4 seconds at Payson Park on Wednesday morning. It was the eighth fastest of nine works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going three furlongs at Payson Park. In his last start he placed sixth in the Franklin-Simpson (G2) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 9 for trainer Vicki Oliver.

Ruby Nell (Bolt d'Oro), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Autumn Miss), worked four furlongs in 48.0 seconds at Santa Anita on Wednesday morning. It was the second fastest of six works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed third in the Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf Invitational (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 27 for trainer Richard Mandella.

Two horses in Nevada's futures market for the Kentucky Derby also had published works on Wednesday.

Mikealicious (Blame) worked five furlongs in 1:01.4 at Oaklawn on Wednesday morning. It was the 12th fastest of 24 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Oaklawn. In his last start he placed fifth in an allowance race going one mile on the main track at Oaklawn on Dec. 31 for trainer Mike Maker.

Top Gun Rocket (Into Mischief) worked three furlongs in 37.0 seconds at Oaklawn on Wednesday morning. It was the fastest of 13 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going four furlongs at Palm Meadows. In his last start he placed eighth in a maiden race going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Nov. 25 for trainer Riley Mott.
