Wednesday works: Kopion leads 6 graded-stakes winners

Kopion worked at Santa Anita on Wednesday as she prepares for an expected start in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint on Nov. 1.

The 4-year-old Omaha Beach filly went five furlongs in 59.4 seconds, second fastest of 16 at the distance, for trainer Richard Mandella.

Kopion started the year with wins in the Grade 2 Santa Monica and Derby City Distaff (G1) before finishing second in both the Great Lady M (G2) and Clement L. Hirsch (G1).

Kopion was one of six graded-stakes winners with published works WEdnesday.

Kopion (Omaha Beach), a two-time Grade 1 winner (2025 Derby City Distaff, 2024 La Brea), worked five furlongs in 59.4 seconds at Santa Anita on Wednesday morning.
