Wednesday works: Kopion leads 6 graded-stakes winners

Kopion worked at Santa Anita on Wednesday as she prepares for an expected start in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint on Nov. 1.

The 4-year-old Omaha Beach filly went five furlongs in 59.4 seconds, second fastest of 16 at the distance, for trainer Richard Mandella.

Kopion started the year with wins in the Grade 2 Santa Monica and Derby City Distaff (G1) before finishing second in both the Great Lady M (G2) and Clement L. Hirsch (G1).

Poster (Munnings), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Remsen), worked five furlongs in 1:01.2 at Turfway Park on Wednesday morning. It was the third fastest of 13 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Turfway Park. In his last start he placed fourth in the Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) going 1 1/8 miles on the synthetic at Turfway Park on March 22 for trainer Eoin Harty.

Durante (Distorted Humor), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2025 Aristides, 2023 Bold Ruler), worked three furlongs in 38.2 seconds at Churchill Training on Wednesday morning. It was the second fastest of six works at the distance. His previous work was four days ago going three furlongs at Churchill Training. In his last start he placed fifth in the Louisville Thoroughbred Society going six furlongs on the main track at Churchill Downs on Sept. 13 for trainer David Jacobson.

This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed sixth in the Franklin-Simpson (G1) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Kentucky Downs on Sept. 6 for trainer Mark Casse.

Getaway Car (Curlin), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Best Pal), worked five furlongs in 1:00.0 at Los Alamitos on Wednesday morning. It was the second fastest of 10 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going four furlongs at Los Alamitos. In his last start he placed fourth in the Virginia Derby going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Colonial Downs on March 15 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Society Man (Good Magic), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Matt Winn), worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Saratoga on Wednesday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 23 works at the distance.
